Dikembe Mutombo is a Congolese-American athlete who was born in Léopoldville, Republic of the Congo and has devoted most of his life to humanitarian work there. He is an investor, NBA Hall of Famer, brand ambassador, media icon, influencer, and entrepreneur, and Chairman of the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation.
Dikembe’s full name is Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo
Dikembe played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and the Houston Rockets.

- Former U.S. President George W. Bush, Jr. hailed Dikembe as the “Son of the Congo ” during a State of the Union Address.
- Dikembe is Founder and Chairman of the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation (DMF), which aims to enhance education and increase access to healthcare for those in the Congo. DMF has made great strides to improve life in the DRC with its most notable achievements being the establishment of a private hospital and school.
- Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital provides high-quality healthcare, regardless of economic status, and trains the next generation of medical professionals. To-date, the hospital has treated nearly one million patients.
- The Samuel Mutombo Institute of Science & Entrepreneurship opened in the fall of 2021. The school aims to educate 840 students from pre-K to grade 12, regardless of income, in the city of Mbuji-Mayi, DRC.
- Dikembe serves as a Spokesman for CARE – International Relief Agency and the United Nations Development Program.
